Pat Brunton

Pat has over twenty years experience of preparing training materials and delivering training to a wide variety of audiences including school governors, early years and childcare practitioners and Sure Start professionals.

Pat's background as a research scientist has led to an increasing interest in the idea of babies and young children as researchers and to involving families in their children's learning through science and technology.

Following consultancy work on funding bids for a range of projects including Sure Start local programmes she currently provides consultancy and training for local authorities, schools and nurseries across the UK.

In 2006-07 Pat was the recipient of a People Award from the Wellcome Trust for the development of an early years training resource on Healthy Living.

Pat has participated in three U.K. Study Tours to Reggio Emilia as well as attending the 'Crossing Boundaries' international conference in 2004. She was involved in the local planning of the 2000 Tour of the 100 Languages Exhibition and participated in the professional development programme for the 2004 tour.

Pat acts as a consultant to Reflections on Learning,helping to design and promote its range of innovative early years equipment.

Linda and Pat co-edit the early years publication, Early Years Update for Optimus Publishing and write for Nursery World, Early Years Educator, Early Education and Montessori International.  

They have co-authored several books including 'Understanding the Reggio Approach', 'Bringing the Reggio Approach to your early years practice', Early Years Handbook', 'Science Matters', 'Healthy Living in the EYFS', 'Science in the early years' and several Little Books for Featherstone Education.
